China to issue 3G licences to 3 main carriers

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said it would issue licences for next generation (3G) mobile networks to its three state-run carriers on Wednesday, Reuters reported. China Mobile, the world's largest mobile carrier, will be issued a licence for TD-SCDMA on Wednesday, official said. In addition, China Unicom would be given a licence to develop a WCDMA network, and China Telecom would receive a licence for CDMA 2000 later in the day.
