The groundbreaking ceremony for the “TEDA Fashion Square” was held the other day at the fashion square in TEDA. The project will become the largest comprehensive commercial theme park in the city when it is finished. He Shushan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Binhai New Area, secretary of the Leading Party Group and director of the Management Committee of Tianjin Economic & Technological Development Area, attended the ceremony.

According to reports, TEDA Fashion Square is situated at the intersection of the 4th Avenue and the Beihai Road. The square has a total investment is 0.68 billion yuan, with an area of more than 46,000 square meters and a floor area of more than 100,000 square meters. Five commercial buildings will be constructed here for proper business functions according to their specific locations and numbers of storeys. Designed as a commercial pedestrian mall, the project gathers a variety of commercial elements in one including children experience, ice and snow amusement, top-brand garments, catering and leisure, and cultural performances, etc. Targeted at high-end businesses, the project and the adjacent TEDA Aeon Mall forms the high-end and medium-end matching pattern, which complements each other in business types. The area in future will become a large comprehensive commercial theme park with multiple functions like high-end businesses, sports & leisure, conference & exhibition, travel & holidays, and cultural performances, etc., with the TEDA Fashion Square at the core. More than 1,000 private parking spaces will also be built to meet the space requirements of the citizens for their full enjoyment of shopping and recreation in this “automobile era”. The project is estimated to be completed in October 2013, and be put into trial operation in April 2014.
