According to statistics in 2011, the total production volume of electric bicycles in China was 30.96 million, with Tianjin producing 14.34 million of this number, almost half of the total production volume.
Tianjin’s electric bicycle industry has followed the standard 11761 for a long time, producing electric bicycles with pedals and a maximum speed of 29 km/h. This type of electric bicycle is popular in Tianjin.
If electric bicycles with pedals are put into the new testing rules, electric bicycle producers in Tianjin will have to adhere to the old production standard, which will greatly affect the electric bicycle business in Tianjin. The suggestion is still under discussion.
