French firm Gide Loyrette Nouel (GLN) recently advised energy company GDF SUEZ – Cofely on a major green project in China.
The French energy service provider GDF SUEZ – Cofely reached an agreement with China’s Tianjin Innovative Finance Investment Co to build, own, and operate the district cooling system in Yujiapu, a new financial district in China’s northern municipality Tianjin.
In the project that is slated to be completed in 2025, an innovative cooling system will be developed and constructed to deliver cooling to 1.8 million square metres of office space and 9.5 million square metres of mixed office and commercial space. The energy efficiency will be 30 percent higher than normal solutions, according to GDF SUEZ – Cofely.
The GLN team, led by Beijing partners Thomas Urlacher and Stephane Vernay and assisted by Liu Yue, advised GDF SUEZ - Cofely on all aspects of this project,including advising on the establishment of two joint ventures, and drafting and negotiating the contractual investment and project documentation.
“This project represents a milestone for GDF SUEZ - Cofely in the development of their activities in district energy networks and services in Asia,” said Vernay in a statement.
