According to the Tourist Bureau of Tianjin, the city received a total of 3.56 million overseas tourists, total income of tourism and shopping amounted to 2.72 billion yuan, up by 13.1 percent year-on-year.
Officials from the Tourist Bureau of Tianjin expressed that the Golden Week of Spring Festival stimulated tourist consumption, promoted the development of related industries, spread the image of the city and boost local economic development. During the holiday, local tourists hit 2.44 million and tourists from other provinces of China reached 1.12 million.
Folk tourist activities played a key role in Tianjin during the week. More than 10 activities with traditional folk characters like the folk temple fair in antique cultural street and temple fair with foreign style were held in Tianjin.
With free and reduced price tickets for Tianjin's museums, memorial halls and enhancement of people's cultural quality, visiting museums and cultural exhibitions become a new trend. During the Spring Festival, Tianjin Museum, Tianjin Planning Exhibition Hall, Science and Technology Museum of Tianjin, Natural History Museum and others received a total of 45,300 visitors.
