China's Zhou Yang won the Olympic gold medal in the women's short track 1500 meters in Vancouver. She grabbed China's third gold in the event.

Zhou clocked a winning time of two minutes 16.993 seconds, and set a new Olympic record. Lee Eun-byul of South Korea took the silver, and Lee's compatriot Park Seung-hi finished third after a crowded final featuring eight skaters instead of six. The final race was thrown wide open after China's Wang Meng was disqualified in the semi-finals.
Officials cited her for impeding during a crash near the end of the race. The 2006 bronze medal-winning Wang was seeking a second gold of these Games after winning the 500 metres earlier this week.
