BIBA-Tianjin is excited to be hosting its first annual Family Fair on Friday, May 3 from 9:30 to 13:00. As expected, the event will include games, prizes, performances, food and fun. Some have asked, Why call it Family Fair? Why not School Fair? Or Fun Fair? Or Games Day?The reason is to highlight BIBA’s commitment to build, develop and nurture a real family, a real community within the school.
What are some of the features of this BIBA family? For one, BIBA-Tianjin seeks to put the best interests of our children first in all decisions just as we do within our own familes. What decisions must we make to keep our children safe? to keep them healthy? to keep them happy? to increase their future opportunities? to help them grow as compassionate and principled individuals?
Next, the BIBA family strives to build positive relationships across the school. This means that children of all ages recognize their connection as BIBA family members and show kindness and support to one another. This means that school parents know one another, support one another, and engage with one another. This means that from the school’s top leaders to its teachers to its office staff members to its cleaning and security personnel, all BIBA family members recognize and appreciate the bonds that connect them as family and community members and respect each other’s efforts and contributions.
On Friday, May 3 BIBA will come together to celebrate the small but growing Tianjin campus family. We will celebrate with games and activities and performances and food. But most importantly, we will celebrate by coming together as a community, sharing time together, and celebrating what it means to be part of a family that is fully committed to its children and to their development; fully committed to positive learning; to happiness, hope and optimism; and to a bright and peaceful future. We look forward to having each of you be a part of that celebration.
