TEDA joins Yale University for Executive Education Program

TIANJIN, China, April 28, 2010 – Since Tianjin Binhai New Area was listed in the national development strategy, and especially since the establishment of the Government of Binhai New Area, it has witnessed rapid development and drawn the whole country’s attention. Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA), as an important functional area of the Binhai New Area, shoulders the task of developing the local economy. To better serve company leaders and government officials in the area, and to enhance their international perspective and strategic management as well as upgrading the level of regional development and global competitiveness, TEDA and the Yale School of Management will jointly host the TEDA-Yale Executive Education Program. 


The program will be held in mid-May in TEDA.  Several renowned professors who have made remarkable achievements in various areas from Yale University will come to Tianjin to teach in the program.  Among those is Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, a senior associate dean at the Yale School of Management who has been listed as one of the world’s 10 most influential business school professors by BusinessWeek. Also among them will  be Dan Esty, a well-known professor on environment and energy issues who has served as an Obama campaign advisor on energy and environmental issues and as a member of the Presidential Transition Team.  The course will cover macroeconomic trends, the green movement and sustainability, strategic leadership development, and  building partnerships across sectors, etc.    


This program was initiated by TEDA and Yale in partnership with PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG). The program is well-regarded and has received attention from the Tianjin Municipal Government and the Binhai New Area government. Leaders from all levels of government will be present in May, joining executives from foreign and state-owned enterprises for this high-level, high-profile event.


The Yale School of Management’s mission is to educate leaders for business and society. Its executive leadership program is aimed at teaching good management to leaders from the private, non-profit and public sectors. It combines theory and practice, using lectures and case studies to enhance participants’ overall analytical skills and give them new perspectives on solving issues of business and organizational management. Participants will get a world-class educational experience, learning global management and enhancing their leadership and strategic decision-making skills. These skills will all be valuable in helping them to achieve higher career goals.
