The new 515-room JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Shanghai Pudong, part of Marriott International, is the first JW Marriott Marquis hotel in China. JW Marriott Marquis hotels are an upgrade of the original JW brand, which pays tribute to brand founder J. Willard Marriott. The hotels continue the Marriott heritage of excellence and the highest standards of service. Owned by the prestigious Luneng Group, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Shanghai Pudong sits in the heart of downtown Shanghai in the dynamic Pudong district, in a premium location close to the Lujiazui CBD and on the banks of the picturesque Huangpu River. The design narrative of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Shanghai Pudong unifies its interior and exterior spaces with masterful aesthetics. This unifying nature of the design becomes the crucial element in creating an inspiring guest experience. All the exterior glass in the building has a 17° slope, which offers guests a new visual enjoyment and reduces the optical pollution of the hotel building to the surrounding environment. The walls of the portecochere encircle the entrance of the hotel, welcoming guests and guiding them through it. A grand fountain inspired by the beautiful magnolia blossoms, a flower that signifies Shanghai, creates a focal point which visually unifies the hotel lobby to the park beyond. An undulating glass entryway frames the naturally-sunlit Atrium, which features a striking, three-dimensionally sculpted wall extending the full height of the space. The reception area and other public amenities surround this Atrium, which sits at the heart of the building. This is the central gathering place around which everything is organized, and serves as the nexus of the guest experience. With the inspired use of light, color and texture, the dramatic central Atrium has a grandeur of scale that promotes a sense of relaxation and serenity. Its graceful curved walls and fully glazed facades on each side offer uninterrupted views from the street toward the Huangpu River, and the Bund beyond. Two indoor bridges within the Atrium connect the public areas of the hotel to the rooms, providing a quiet, exclusive area for guests to pause and rest. Here they can also enjoy dramatic vantage points for viewing the surroundings. Within the Atrium, the spaces are finished with natural stone, polished metals, statement fabrics and patterns that represent the luxury of the JW Marriott brand.

The hotel’s 515 guest rooms include a Presidential Suite, a Vice Presidential Suite and 19 exquisite River View Executive Suites. All rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows which take advantage of natural light and offer breathtaking views of the surroundings. Selected guest rooms also feature large sunken bathtubs with views over the city. Sophisticated design and classic influences create welcoming spaces that inspire guests to relax and feel at home. Natural materials such as polished stone, glass and wood in palettes of rich brown, cream and white are used throughout. All guest rooms offer the latest amenities for business and leisure travelers, including luxury Simmons mattresses for a great night’s sleep, goose feather duvets, 55-inch Samsung flat screen TVs, Nespresso coffee machines and JBL or Bose sound docks.
The hotel also offers unparalleled spaces for hosting meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) in Shanghai. With twelve multifunctional event rooms including the column-free Junior Marquis and Grand Marquis ballrooms, the spaces can be divided into individually customized spaces with separate entrances to suit every requirement.
