042A Chinese music band named Diuhuoche, which means "lost train," was refused permission to perform at an opening ceremony of a new high-speed rail in Central China, due to its "unlucky name."

One of the members of the band said on Sina Weibo, China's Twitter-like platform, on Tuesday that their band's performance at a music festival was cancelled because of its name, according to a video posted by Pear Video.

The music festival will be held to celebrate the establishment of a new high-speed rail in Nanyang, Henan Province.

The band had been invited to perform at the festival, and local media had also published an article announcing the list of performers, which included the band.

However, before signing the contract, the band was told that they could not perform because their name was not an auspicious one for a train line.

The tweet amused Chinese netizens. "Although I felt sorry for the band, I agree with the organizers that the name is not appropriate at an opening ceremony for a train," a Sina Weibo user wrote.

Some netizens see this as a good chance for the band to raise its profile. "I did not know the band before, but now I think it is well-known around the country."

040A staff member of the organizing committee said to Pear Video that they will invite the band to perform again after the high-speed rail is open.

043The band expressed their congratulations on the establishment of the new rail on Wednesday.
