death 01An Australian man has been sentenced to death by a court in southern China over drug smuggling charges.

The Guangzhou Intermediate People’s Court sentenced the Australian national on June 10 as a “first-instance verdict on the smuggling of drugs”.

The man’s assets would also be seized, the court said in a statement on its website.
