bridge 01China's newly opened full-glass bridge in the southern province of Guangdong offers visitors the thrill of a lifetime.

The bridge that spans across the Huangchuan Three Gorges in Lianzhou is 526-metre-long and is currently the world's longest glass bridge.

The magnificent structure, which offers stupendous views of the Three Gorges Area and built over the Lianjiang River, was unveiled to the public on July 18.

Shortly after the opening, the representatives from the Guinness World Records on-site made if official that the structure was now the longest glass bridge on the world.

bridge 02The bridge has four observation decks in the middle and can hold 500 tourists at once, said reports.

It will only be used for normal foot traffic. But adventure sports like bungee jumping and zip lines will be on offer at the bridge. Three layers of laminated glass of 4.5cm thickness have been used to make the bridge.

In 2019, the world's longest glass bridge was located at Huaxi World Adventure Park in Jiangsu Province in east China.

The 518-metres long bridge hangs more than 100 metres above the ground level in the adventure park. The bridge is made with a special glass that has a thickness of 3.5 centimeters. Each pane of the special glass can hold a maximum of 4.7 tonnes. On average, the glass bridge can support about 2,600 people at a time.

The experience of walking on the bridge is scary not because of its transparent floor, but for the sound and visual effects of glass shattering. The spider web pattern on the surface as tourists walk on it makes them think that the glass bridge is cracking.
