india 01India on Wednesday banned 118 more Chinese apps amid rising tensions between the two countries. On Tuesday, India had said that China again engaged in “provocative action” along the Line of Actual Control.

india 03The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in a press release, said that the apps are “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India”. It added that the ministry has received many complaints from various sources, including several reports about misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms, for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorised manner to servers which have locations outside India.

India had in June banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, CamScanner and UC Browser, citing security concerns. It later banned 47 more apps, which were clones of the 59 Chinese apps.
