Citizens shopping online and purchasing goods, including frozen food, from other countries or regions should pay close attention to the information of customs on food quarantine and outer packaging disinfection, Liu Xiaofeng, a deputy director of Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said at a press conference on on Tuesday.
Liu suggested citizens separate raw and cooked food, and cook thoroughly to ensure food safety.
Xu Hejian, a spokesperson for the Beijing municipal government, noted the need to trace import channels for cold chain food.
The spread of the epidemic in other countries is accelerating and the risk of its spread always exists. It is necessary to be prudent in preventing and controlling the epidemic.
Liu reminded citizens who have traveled to medium- and high-risk areas in the past 14 days to monitor their health. It is recommended that they avoid traveling to overseas and domestic medium- and high-risk areas if not necessary.
People who come to Beijing for medical treatment from medium- and high-risk areas are required to inform doctors of the living places' epidemic situation and contact history of COVID-19 cases, according to Liu.
