Tianjin saw over 30 million foreign trade orders via cross-border e-commerce in 2020, with the import sector accounting for most of the orders, according to the municipal commission of commerce.

The city handled more than 29.25 million declared import orders in 2020, up 5.45 percent year on year, the commission said.

The sales volume of the import orders hit 4.85 billion yuan (about 748 million U.S. dollars), an increase of 5.1 percent year on year.

Tianjin received 921,900 export orders in 2020, with its sales volume reaching 28.55 million yuan, said the commission.

Tianjin has registered 435 cross-border e-commerce companies and related service enterprises involved in finance, logistics and warehousing, and had nearly 130,000 kinds of commodities on record.

After the COVID-19 outbreak last year, Tianjin's competitive industries such as furniture, bicycle, medical devices have placed more emphasis on cross-border e-commerce.

The commission vowed to implement more facilitation measures and diversify customs clearance methods to further develop the online trade.
