Anhui Province reported two new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, one in capital Hefei City and one in Lu'an City after 20 days without local transmission in China, according to local health authorities.
One of the two cases, surnamed Zhao, was detected during a routine coronavirus nucleic acid test in a hospital in Lu'an, and another confirmed case, surnamed Li, was a close contact.
The local government has carried out a sample review, tracing, expert consultation, and evaluation, and all emergency measures have been deployed.
A total of 56 close contacts of Zhao have been quarantined. Among them, 11 people were tested for COVID-19, and all results came out negative, according to the local health authorities.
Meanwhile, the first nucleic acid test of 122 close contacts of Li were all negative and have been quarantined.
Lu'an was upgraded to a "medium-risk area" on Friday. Anhui ordered three districts, including Lu'an, to complete nucleic acid testing within three days.
