Tianjin and Chongqing have launched a service that enables metro passengers to use the same QR code to pay for tickets in both cities.
The service, effective on toady, allows QR codes on the latest apps in Chongqing and Tianjin to be accepted in the subway systems of both cities.
The latest versions of the Tianjin "天津地铁" APP and the Chongqing “渝畅行”APP are available to download. Whereas commuters previously had to switch between the two apps, only one app is now required to commute in either Chongqing or Tianjin. Users can simply select the appropriate QR code for either city. However, right now the app only support Alipay. More payment methods will be expand in the future.
