The aerial and aerospace industry scale in Tianjin is expected to reach up to 21 billion yuan by the end of 2010 and the city’s goal is to achieve 100 billion yuan annual output by 2015, according to its municipal department recently.

Data from the Tianjin Economic and Information Technology Commission suggests that the aerial and aerospace industry output in Tianjin, one of China’s four municipalities directly under control of the central government, has witnessed rapid 180 percent year-on-year growth compared to a scale of less than 1 billion yuan in the early period of the 11th Five-Year Plan.

The Tianjin city currently has formed an industry structure consisting of large aircrafts, helicopters, unmanned planes, large rocket and satellites.

Meanwhile, Tianjin is also the only city that has both an aerial and aerospace industry in China.

The commission also said the aerial and aerospace industries have achieved 8.6 billion yuan output value in the first half of this year, representing a 42 percent growth compared with the same period of last year.

As of the end of 2009, the aerial and aerospace industry scale in Tianjin ranked the fourth largest in China, advancing 13 places from 2008, according to the commission.

Relevant departments in Tianjin are drafting the 12th Five-Year Plan for the aerial and aerospace industry and have set the 100 billion yuan output development goal for 2015.
