China has signed a 5.53 billion USD deal with Greece to build a container terminal at Piraeus port aimed at boosting trade with emerging markets around the Black Sea rim. The presence of President Hu Jintao, at Tuesday's contract signing ceremony in Athens highlighted the importance to Beijing of controlling a trans-shipment hub in the east Mediterranean.
