A street vendor in southern China was left unconscious after a stranger approached him for a chat and proceeded to put a mysterious ointment on his back.
The vendor, Mr Wei, said the man claimed to be from a martial arts school and offered to help with his back pain using "Qi Gong," a traditional Chinese practice.
The man then sold Wei a piece of ointment for 60 yuan, claiming it would help regulate his body. But after applying the ointment, Wei passed out and only regained consciousness after the stranger removed it and pinched his acupuncture point.
Witnesses have reported seeing the incident and police have since taken the suspect into custody for questioning. Meanwhile, the ointment has been sent for testing to determine what it contains.
Wei was rushed to the hospital but doctors could find no trace of the ointment in his system and he has since reported feeling normal.
