A passenger train was derailed due to a vehicle flipping over and falling onto railway tracks in Heihe, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province at around 4 am on Sunday. No injuries have been reported.
The passenger train traveling from Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjiang to Heihe, came off the rails between Sunwu county and Heihe city, with four carriages derailed, according to a Shangyou News report.
It is expected that the rail line will resume operation today.
According to media reports, the passenger train No.K5133 departed from Harbin at 17:23 on Saturday and was due to arrive in Heihe around 5:15 the next morning, stopping at seven stations.
According to the statement released by the railway authority, a construction vehicle belonging to the local railway company in Heihe flipped over and fell onto the track, which caused the derailment of the first four carriages of the passenger train.
Following the accident, China Railway Harbin Group Co took an active part in the rescue work organized by the local railway department. All the passengers and railway employees have been transferred, China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Sunday.
According to officials in Heihe, the accident did not lead to any injuries and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
