The Malaysian Food Festival is a chance to understand the culture through the country’s food, and even though you’re surrounded by the comfort of a five stars hotel, your imaginary will get in the next plane to Kuala Lumpur.
It starts with three chefs cooking the best of Malaysian cuisine: Indian-Malaysian, Malaysian-Malaysian, and Chinese-Malaysian. What’s the result? A scrumptious set of flavours and aromas that will unwind your taste buds. The food found at the Sheraton is genuine and it shows the cultural diversity of the country. According to Mr. Iskandar Sarudin, Ambassador of Malaysia, “this festival introduces Malaysia’s food and culture. The food at the Sheraton is the food eaten by all Malaysians daily. You can find it in the streets, you can find it in five stars hotels and in the king’s palace! If you don’t believe it, let’s go to Malaysia!”
The cultural difference naturally influenced the rich gastronomic amalgam. You’re in for the following treats: to being, we recommend Channa Ki (chickpea salad) or Pasembor (prawn fritters); for the main course, the options are too many to count but you simply must try the Kambing Kurma (braised lamb with coriander) and the Bhare Samudra-Pheni (grilled stuffed squid with seafood masala). But obviously there are other delicacies worth taking the time to watch their preparation: the Roti Jala (a kind of Malaysian bread prepared in front of you with the highest elasticity) and the Satay (delicious and impossible to resist skewers).
