The Toyota RAV4 is a major part of Toyota’s plans to boost its presence in the Chinese market place and it seems to be doing well so far, the RAV4 is produced by Toyota in partnership with First Automobile Works in Tianjin and has seen strong sales so far. For 2011/12 Toyota are planning to give the RAV4 a facelift and also an improved rear with what looks like plans to delete the spare wheel from the rear hatch.
The RAV4 sells in China with the choice of a 2.0L or a 2.4L engine in 2WD and 4WD configuration, Toyota’s big let down on this SUV was the addition of a 4 speed automatic, which was cutting edge technology when Moses was splitting the waves on the Red Sea. Toyota have come under a lot of criticism for that gearbox from consumers and media alike, although it is unlikely to change it in this generation of vehicle.
