Due to the lack of spare parts, demand for Japanese cars  exceeds supply. Not only have car dealers stopped their favorable prices of Japanese cars, but clients are having to wait at least three months for some specific car types in Tianjin.

FAW Toyota reduces working hours

FAW Toyota announced that their spare parts are insufficient to meet assembly plant needs, so half of vehicle assembly factories won’t operate until June 3. And in some extreme cases, this rate can be as high as 70%. The earthquake actually cut Toyota’s assembly line in half. The summer holiday, in July according to original plan, has been adjusted to start at the end of April or early in May.

Invalidate promotions of most car types

“We have canceled all the favorable prices of hot-selling car types in our shop, including Corolla, VIOS and RAV4, and clients have to pay a CNY 5,000 deposit to order a RAV4 and get the car after July.” said a salesperson in Toyota 4S shop in Tianjin.

Dongfeng Nissan also has problems of inventory shortage. Due to the lack of the Nissan New-sunshine model, a CNY 5,000 deposit and three-month wait are necessary for a new car.

The prices for Mazda 6 have risen again for by least CNY 1,800, with a 4,000 yuan increase for the short-supply purple one.

Used to eyeing the “golden week” promotion, Japanese cars have to be outsiders this year with spare parts running out and stocks empty. Moreover, all the owners of Japanese cars will be hoping their cars don’t need any repairs in the near future!
