After two years of development and construction, Tianjin Central Fishing Port officially opened on October 16, 2011. Six 5000-tonne berths and two work berths came into use. Tianjin Central Fishing Port is expected to become the biggest centre for fishery, trading and processing in northern China.
Tianjin Central Fishing Port began construction in 2009 with a total investment of CNY 520 million. Aside from other uses, ships can come into port to trade, take shelter from inclement weather, and meet other needs for Shandong peninsula, Liaoning, Hebei and other surrounding provinces.
It is estimated the annual throughout capacity will be 4.8 million tones which is more than the sum of all fishing activity around Tianjin. In addition, Central Fishing Port doubles as a leisure port to meet peoples eat- live- play “one-stop” travel needs.
