Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau are introducing the new labeling rule from Aug.4.
And donors can design their own name plates, subject to bureau approval.
If you want your name to stay there for a year it will cost individuals 3,000 yuan and companies 30,000 yuan.
Donations of over 300,000 yuan toward construction projects or to adopt green areas will display the donors' names for five years.
A list of projects up for adoption and how to apply will be publicized on the bureau's Website (lhsr.sh.gov.cn) at the start of every year.
Since introducing donations for greenland construction and tree adoption in 2001, the bureau has received some 100 million yuan from more than 90,000 individuals and 2,600 companies. Some 40 million yuan was used to build greenery areas along the Outer Ring Road.
The new rule is a bid to regulate the practice of adoption and encourage local people and companies' involvement in environmental protection, officials said yesterday.
