altAt the beginning of 2013, Beijing has continued to experience dense fog for more than 10 days which dragged the air quality down to severe pollution grade. In order to restrict pollution to the minimum level, Beijing environmental protection department implemented the emergency response plans for air quality improvement.

The following photos show the Air Pollution Index (API) around Beijing recorded by mobile app since February. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) monthly reports of 74 cities released by China National Environmental Monitoring Center, the AQI from January to April is 17.0, 4.72, 4.8 and 3.54 respectively, which indicate the air quality of Beijing is getting better.

Yesterday is World Environment Day, China's theme for this year is "Breathing and Working Together", aiming to inform all the Chinese citizen that they have responsibility of environment protection, enhancing everyone’s awareness of conservation and healthy life style, and making contribution to the ecological environment protection for a beautiful China with clear air and blue sky.
