If there is one thing in common for all the fallen official in China, it is that almost every one of them has been found to own multiple properties beyond their pay grade.
A recent Beijing News report revealed that a township official, Lin Weizhong, in Dongguan, South China's Guangdong Province possessed so many properties that when the city ordered residents to replace their
ownership certificates, the official filled an entire carton with documents.

At a time when housing prices have skyrocketed and average families have to blow their life savings to get one small apartment, the revelation of some officials' wealth has kindled fury and social unrest.
For the Communist Party of China (CPC), corruption has become an urgent problem that threatens to shake the stability of the regime. The Party has spent a huge amount of energy and resources researching how to fight it. In the latest move, the CPC said in the reform road map approved by the 18th Plenary Session of the CPC Central Committee that it plans to provide free residences for officials in an attempt to stop them from acquiring properties through bribes.
