Fortune Heights Snow Polo World Cup 2016, the largest snow polo tournament in the world is going to be held at Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club from January 26th to 31st, 2016. Six teams from Argentina, Canada, Chile, England, France, and Hong Kong China will be fighting for the championship title on the snow field.
Snow polo is a tradition that originated from glamorous ski resorts of Switzerland, but it has made its presence felt in China, when it was hosted at the Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club in 2012. The vision of Tianjin Metropolitan Polo Club is to develop a highly regarded polo community in China for those that value excellence, tradition and nobility as well as luxury. The objective to host the international snow polo tournament is to create a home for the sport of polo in China, Asia.
South Polo Field
The splendid South Field is a sweep of exquisite green turf framed by a double-tiered grandstand mansion and the regal skyline of apartments and villas that comprise Fortune Heights, Tianjin’s most prestigious real estate development.
The snow polo field measures 100 yards long 50 yards wide (91.44m long x 45.72m wide). Man-made snow has been laid in order to guarantee the quality of the snow ground. The compacted snow measures 25cm.
The South Field buildings are designed in a new French classic renaissance style. A double-tiered grandstand mansion of 20 VIP suites can hold 500 spectators at any one time.
Polo Pony
About 200 polo ponies are provided by the Metropolitan Polo Club and each polo pony has been padded with anti-slip pads, and studded horseshoes for cushioning and better grip on the snowy ground.
