Diners at Tianjin Joy City can now pay by Alipay, as Tianjin embraces the "Internet Plus" and the "smart city". So far, over 130 restaurants have reached agreements with Alipay, the third-party payment system owned by technology giant Alibaba.
Last year, Tianjin released its plan to build a smart city at the "Internet Plus" forum, combining "daily life" with "smart terminal". Liu Wei, head of the Tianjin Tantan Technology Trade Company - authorized service provider of Alipay in the city - said that a series of Intelligent services will be started soon, covering people’s livelihoods, businesses, vegetable markets and supermarkets.
After a trial service at the Tianjin Joy City, around 5000 restaurants in the city will get access to the Alipay system by the end of April.
It is reported that communication watchdogs in Tianjin will update the information security system with the help of big data to guarantee a safe and sound online payment environment.
