To implement Tianjin Municipality’s and Binhai New Area’s work plan on environmental renovation, TEDA energetically carries out a series activities to improve the urban environment. A few days ago, all relevant departments of TEDA made a concerted effort in improving the environment from the northern area of No. 2 Avenue along Donghai Road to TEDA Avenue, declaring TEDA’s getting ready for environmental improvement in 2012.
Located in the east of TEDA, Donghai Road serves not only as a vital communication line connecting Tanggu, Tianjin Port Area, TEDA and northern area, but also as an important greeting main line of Binhai New Area. During the period of closed construction of Donghai Road over the past few years, some units and individuals unofficially piled up containers, set up large-scale parking lots and recycling centers on vacant land which seriously ruined the urban appearance and the environment along the road. It is extremely urgent to carry out environmental management along Donghai Road.
In order to do well in this large-scale environmental improvement activity, 240 law enforcement officers were dispatched to carry out educational propaganda to involved units and individuals, send them propaganda materials and inform them the content of the Notice on Environmental Improvement within a Definite Time. After repeated lobbying from house to house, most lessees have signed the Letter of Guarantee on Providing Cooperation for Environment Improvement and more than 20 lessees have agreed to move those unofficially piled containers away.
For those large-scale parking lots, recycling centers and other illegal structures which failed to be moved out within the prescribed time, TEDA Bureau for Urban Administration, in cooperation with Binhai Construction and Transportation Bureau and the Traffic Police Office, launched an extensive environment governance activity on the morning of April, 11. More than 120 law enforcement officers were dispatched for concentrated regulation along Donghai Road: eradicating 36 lessees with over 300 containers that illegally occupied the Greenland, pulling down 3 recycling centers and 4 unofficially-built brick rooms and 4 simply constructed color plate shacks, and the total improved area is about 20,000 square meters; clearing off rubbish of more than 200 tons. After the improvement, the appearance and the environment of Donghai Road were dramatically enhanced.
