The International Committee for Chinese Orphans (ICCO) held a fundraising event June 1st at Ashanti restaurant on 2nd Avenue in TEDA. The organization helps bring awareness to the issue, provides volunteer support, and gathers donations to assist with individual children’s plights, typically medical in nature.
With a generous gift from Continental Automotive Systems (Tianjin) and Ashanti ICCO was able to raise 37,000 RMB. They are planning another event for August 25th at the Sheraton in TEDA.
ICCO is 100% volunteer, lead by Anne Perry, Liz Gisselberg and Heather Paht. In her brief presentation at the function last week were slides of children they were able to assist, touching stories about each—including the tragic cases.
