Tianjin will implement the odd-and-even-number license plate rules on days when an air-pollution red alert is issued, according to a contingency plan that was passed on Monday to fight heavy air pollution, as reported.
Â
This means 50 percent of the automobiles in the city will be banned from roads on heavy pollution days.
Â
Outdoor events and activities related to construction work also will be suspended on such days, according to the plan.
Â
Additionally, preschools as well as primary and middle schools across the city should suspend classes, and a flexible work schedule should be implemented in enterprises and institutes on these days, the plan says.Â
