Terminal 2 of Tianjin Airport will be opened on August 28. By then, the Airport’s underground comprehensive transportation center, covering 110,000 m² will also come into use, thus enabling passengers to easily transfer among 6 transportation modes such as plane, metro, city bus, long-distance bus, taxi and private car. When arriving or departing from Tianjin Airport, passengers may choose any of these transportation means in accordance with their own needs.
On the same day when Terminal 2 and the Airport’s underground comprehensive transportation center are opened, Metro Line 2 will also start operations to Tianjin Airport. Metro Line 2 will pass such important stations as Southwestern Corner Station, Northeastern Corner Station, Drum Tower Station, Tianjin Railway Station and Airport Economic Area Station.
Passengers may take Metro Line 2 to get to the airport without a stop, or take Metro Line 1, 3 or 9 and then transfer to Line 2.
After Terminal 2 is put into operation, Terminal 1 will still continue to undertake international flight support tasks. International flight passengers getting to Tianjin Airport by metro may take the elevator from the underground transportation center to the departure floor of Terminal 2 and then walk through the sky bridge beside Door 4 to Terminal 1 to take these flights.
The parking lot project of Terminal 2 at Tianjin Airport has already been put into use. This parking lot provides space for 2,447 vehicles, including taxis and buses. This new parking lot covers a relatively large area and it is relatively far away from the Terminal. Thus, in order to offer convenience to passengers, Tianjin Airport provides four buses to solve the problem of carrying the passengers to finish the “The Last One Kilometer”.
Currently, six buses operate constantly from 9.30 am to 9.30 pm and stop when passengers flag them down. So, passengers can get on these buses easily. All of them are electro mobiles with 14 seats. In order to provide diversified services to passengers, Tianjin Airport modified the two rear seats of these vehicles to boxes especially for passenger luggages, in a bid to offer more convenience to passengers with lots of luggage.
Currently, Tianjin Airport has 10 departure lounges heading for Tianjin Railway Station, Binhai High Tech Zone, Beijing South Railway Station and such cities as Cangzhou, Huanghua, Tangshan, Baoding, Baigou, Bazhou and Shengfang. There are five airport shuttle bus lines connecting Tianjin Airport to Tongsha Passenger Station, Tanggu Development Zone, Tianjin Railway Station, Hebei Passenger Station to Jinyu Passenger Station, and Tianjin West Railway Station to Tianhuan Passenger Station. They are all seamlessly connected with the railway and the city’s five passenger hub stations. The passengers from cities along the Beijing-Tianjin High-speed Rail, Beijing-Shanghai, Tianjin-Qinhuangdao, Tianjin-Baoding and other high-speed rails, and the passengers taking long-distance buses can get to Tianjin Airport by railway and metro or the airport shuttle bus, or, long-distance passenger bus and metro or the airport shuttle bus. The traffic is very convenient.
It is reported that Tianjin Airport’s long-distance passenger station projects are under intense construction. Upon completion of these stations, passengers will be enabled to take long-distance passenger buses to get to Tianjin Airport nonstop.
The Beijing-Tianjin intercity airport’s lead-in line projects have also currently entered their final stage. It is expected that in three years, Beijing-Tianjin intercity high-speed rails will directly extend into Tianjin Airport’s underground transportation center and the journey between Beijing South Railway Station and Tianjin Airport will be shortened to 45 minutes.
At that time, zero-distance transfer among multiple transportation means in Tianjin Airport will be achieved, including high-speed rail. The modern three-dimensional transportation network system in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will be immeasurably improved. Passengers will travel more conveniently, faster and more comfortably.
