In order to promote the implementation of the "One Belt One Road" national strategy and the integrated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, as well as providing more convenient and high efficient basic facilities used in the ports, multiple navigable channels in Tianjin Port were officially brought into use on 26 December.

It is the first navigable channel system organized by multiple transportations nationwide and is also the highest level manmade deep water channel.

It can not only satisfy the transit of a 300,000 ton level vessel and the world's largest and most advanced container vessel that is able to carry around 19,000 tons of standard boxes, but also realize a four lane voyage (two lanes for entering, two lanes for exiting) for high level large size vessels and small vessels.

The use of the multiple navigable channels not only greatly improves the navigational ability and comprehensive ability of Tianjin Port, but also effectively drives its transition of development, quality improvement, and efficiency promotion under the new norms of the international shipping industry.

Based on the original deep water channels, the multiple channels in Tianjin Port have added an extra 10,000 tons level of navigation on each side. The multiple channels also improve the transit efficiency and safety levels of the manmade channels through the development of management and technological innovation and form an elaborate management format.

Facing the continuous acceleration of the development in large size vessels and the diversity of the global shipping market, the Tianjin government has cooperated with related departments, such as the Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission, the Tianjin Maritime Safety Administration, the Tianjin Port Group, and the Tianjin Port Navigation Center, to develop the transition of Tianjin Port.
