Airports are a unique place. They tend to be big, busy and open 24 hours a day. The Tianjin Binhai International Airport is open 24 hours as well and is getting busier as it gets bigger. Tianjin Binhai International airport is the main airport of Tianjin. We will call it Tianjin Airport for short herein.
Anyone wanting to travel to or from Tianjin via plane typically will travel from this airport. Previously Terminal 1 was the main hub of activity both for international and regional flights at Tianjin Airport. As of August, 2014 though things changed, it was then that Tianjin Airport got bigger in the hopes of also getting busier.

Terminal 2 of the Tianjin Airport is now handling check-in and security for all domestic flights, which are those flying to or from destinations within China. Terminal 2 also made big news in Tianjin as it is linked to the subway system. This means that airport passengers can take metro line 2 from the Tianjin city center directly to the Tianjin airport without exiting the subway or getting a cab. Previously this was impossible as line 2 ended one stop short of the airport. Now, travelers arriving by metro line 2 will arrive underground and take either the escalator, elevator or stairs up a level and voilà ! you are at the airport. The walk from the metro stop to the actual ticketing counter and terminals is all indoors.Â
