The “WOULD YOU MARRY ME” Earth Hour theme wedding show was held at the Lobby Lounge of Renaissance Tianjin Lakeview Hotel on Saturday 28th of March 2015 from 19:30 to 21:30 and more than 200 guests attended the event.
During the event we turned out the non-essential lights, for one hour, in support of Earth Hour – a global movement uniting businesses, organizations and individuals in taking actions to raise awareness to the issues of climate change – and kick off the company’s dedication to environmental awareness. We also took this opportunity to create a romantic atmosphere to make a real love story come true on this special day.
Earth Hour is WWF's global environmental movement. In 2015, the current aim is to achieve blue sky in China and reduce the air pollution. With this spirit we designed the bright star in the night sky by using the small LED lights in our hotel lobby during the earth hour. For the eco-friendly feeling, we chose the artificial flowers to decorate the venue, and a special wedding dress show called “Through The Darkness” came up with the “flower mask “(made by lace) for the models that implied the “breath free” desire, which also drives people’s awareness to the air pollution problem in China. During this show, we didn’t use any of the professional lighting equipment, and all light sources were using by the Wolf Eyes flashlights as the “spot lights”.
The amazing part of the night happened at 20:30, as the light turned down and a real marriage proposal came to life. For this special moment a video was projected on the lobby showing the love story of the couple, with live piano accompaniment and Mr. Guo singing their favorite love song. As his girlfriend walked slowly down the aisle of the wedding booth, the wedding ring slid down like a shooting star. With tears of happiness rolling down her cheeks, Ms. Zhang answered “Yes, I do” while Mr. Guo on his knee put the wedding ring on her finger. The fairy tale story was witnessed and cheered by more than 200 persons and everyone was touched and wished them to tie the knot soon. It had been 2 month of preparation, where Renaissance Tianjin Lakeview Hotel had worked out the best proposal ceremony for Mr. Guo and Ms. Zhang, while promoting the earth hour spirit in an eco-friendly activity and being able to help a groom romantically surprise her future wife was really the highlight of this global event.
While the lights may go out on one night, the efforts of Earth Hour and its supporters to fight climate change will last throughout the year, and to change the environment problem we might not be able to do great things, but only small things with great love. An eco-friendly life will bring you and your love ones a better future.
