Earth Hour has been extended into a full day initiative in Pan Pacific Tianjin’s commitment to the planet.
Pan Pacific Tianjin participated in the annual Earth Hour for the very first time and implemented a series of environmentally friendly initiatives to involve guests of the hotel throughout the day.
Front Desk associates invited guests checking into the 319-guestroom hotel to participate in the property’s “Protect our Environment” movement – Guests were entitled to a dining discount by re-using their bed linens and towels for a day. This movement is set to reduce the wastage of energy and water. Guests were also briefed about the environmentally friendly activities by the associates at Concierge. Complimentary bicycle rental, jogging and walking maps were introduced and guests were encouraged to take on these routes to reduce the carbon footprint.
Diners in the hotel were also involved in the Earth Hour and were entitled to a sneak preview of April’s themed buffet in Pacifica, the all-day-dining restaurant. The 122-seater international cuisine restaurant was dimmed and guests had the opportunity to dine using their bare hands. The culinary brigade introduced a series of dishes that did not require the usage of any cutlery. Highlights include Barbequed Lamb Racks, Squids on Sticks, Roasted Suckling Pig, Wok-fried Chicken with Szechuan Peppers, Sliced Fish in Spicy Szechuan Chili Oil and Noodle Rolls.
The evening ended with a photo taking session which lasted for a complete hour with the Pan Pacific brand logo and the words ‘Earth Hour’ laid out with 350 tea light candles. Curious guests enquired about the Earth Hour movement and were left to ponder how they can incorporate environmentally friendly actions in their daily lives.
