The Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) has been operating for one and a half years. As the only free trade zone north of the Yangtze River, the Tianjin Free Trade Zone plans to learn from the experiences of Shanghai and create a plan based on its own characteristics simultaneously, according to Huang Xingguo, an NPC deputy and mayor of Tianjin.

Tianjin shoulders the responsibility to provide service to the integrated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province, as well as the national strategy of "One Belt One Road" (Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road).

Apart from the above, the city is also responsible for the integration of the special custom controlling zone and the normal controlling zone, the integration of systematic innovation and the development of substantial economy, and the integration of learning from the experience of the Shanghai Pilot FTZ and taking international universal regulations as references.
