General Electric Company's (GE) innovative energy company, currently, a part of its energy division, recently announced a strategic partnership with the Tianjin government for developing the city as China's first smart city. The company plans to build intelligent infrastructure by integrating networked lightings with GE's powerful Predix platform.
GE's energy company initiated a Pilot Project for its intelligent lighting solutions in Tianjin's CBD area Yujiapu, Binhai new area. The project will feature GE LED intelligent lighting system built on the low carbon concept in order to develop Tianjin as the first green and energy efficient demonstration city in China. This installation introduces a technology that is likely to generate significant energy savings and allow the city to shine smarter. The energy efficient LED installation base will help the city to use and analyze data and create new opportunities for city workers and residents.
The Tianjin government and General Electric will work together to build and manage infrastructure including city assets management solution, public information, air quality monitoring, illumination control system and cloud platform management system.
Additionally, GE announced plans to build a Digital Center in Shanghai, and scale to build Makerspace (innovation center) for intelligent cities throughout China. The strategic move by GE is to augment its revenues by developing new projects based on the Chinese government's policy of promoting public innovations.
