The 2016 "Consume Less, Enjoy More" Earth Hour theme party was held at the Lobby Lounge of Renaissance Tianjin Lakeview Hotel with Anjie Service and Tianjin Broadcasting Station on Saturday 19 March 2016 from 19:30 to 21:30 and more than 200 guests attended the event.
During the event, we turned out the non-essential lights for one hour, in support of Earth Hour - a global movement uniting businesses, organizations and individuals in taking actions to raise awareness to the issues of climate change - and kick off the companyâs dedication to environmental awareness. At the beginning, Steven Yau, the General Manager of Renaissance Tianjin Lakeview Hotel gave a speech and encouraged everyone to share environmental protection posts on the social media.
In 2016, the event theme is "Consume Less, Enjoy More", which try to create a better, more sustainable future for ourselves and the Earth by saving energy. With this spirit, there were 3 unplugged performances selected from Weibo and WeChat via social media platform. They are solo violin by Yanchu Guo, piano performance by Ruihan Ma, and Tai Chi performance by Peiyi Zhou. The aim is to raise the attention of climate change issue in local community.
The amazing part of the night happened at 20:30, while all the lights were switched off and lit candles in"60+" shape. The singer sang the Earth Hour theme song with all the audiences. After the song end, the artist showed live sand painting, thus drove peopleâs awareness to the air pollution problem in China. Last but not least, the Djembe (African drum) performers danced with the music beats that made the atmosphere of the whole party into the climax.
The most exciting part was the lucky draw, there were 10 lucky guests took the prizes home, which are complimentary accommodations from Marriott International hotels all over the world, and prizes sponsored by Anjie Service and Tianjin Broadcasting Station.
While the lights may go out on one night, the efforts of Earth Hour and its supporters to fight climate change will last throughout the year, and to change the environment problem we might not be able to do great things, but only small things with great love. An eco-friendly life will bring you and your beloved a better future.
