Volkswagen announced today that they are set to expand their gearbox factory in Tianjin considerably to allow for an increasing demand of its popular DSG gearboxes. VW has invested heavily in the technology over the course of the past year nearly all of their Chinese market vehicles receiving a DSG gearbox .

 

The Project will create a new production base for advanced dual clutch transmissions at the Volkswagen transmission plant in the Tianjin Economic Technological Development Area (TEDA). The production will be increased by another 240,000 transmissions annually. Volkswagen Automatic Transmission Tianjin plant is scheduled to open in 2014. The production of the additional advanced dual clutch transmissions will start 2016.
