altForbes Superbee Honey is set to explode into the Chinese market next year.

Director Ross Christiansen recently attended the Food and Hotel China Tradeshow in Shanghai, with the aim of expanding the market for Superbee and meeting potential customers.

The business has attended tradeshows in Hong Kong and Guangzhou and has had a great response from that area of southern China.

"We’re keen to have a presence in northern China as well so we're focusing on Shanghai, Beijing, and Tianjin, Mr Christiansen said.

He believes the export levels of honey to China is about to explode with one of his existing export customers set to start selling Superbee Honey through a television shopping network.

"The projections for the volume they expect to sell would exceed our present yearly production,Mr Christiansen said.

This massive coup would see the export component of the Superbee business jump to 50 per cent, if not further.

"Our greatest potential for expansion is in exports,he said.

This phenomenal business growth means Superbee can continue to be a significant employer in the Forbes community.

Currently the business has 12 employees from Forbes and Parkes, and the factory will be looking to put on an extra two to three employees in order to keep up with present production requirements.

Having moved the Superbee factory from the Sunshine Coast to Forbes five years ago, the business is expanding every year.

"We couldn't have processed even half our current volume at our last location on the Sunshine Coast,Mr Christiansen said.

"We're just put in a second production line, which means effectively we can produce twice the volume of product.

With an influx of export clients, Superbee is struggling to keep production on top of the quantity of honey needed to fill orders, even as they approach the startling figure of 2,000 tonnes of honey processed per annum.

Not that this is seen as a problem for Mr Christiansen, who has global plans for 2014.

"We'll make a more concerted effort to enter the Japanese market as well; we're just had one customer order 70,000 boxes of cut comb,Mr Christiansen said.

With two sons living in the United States, he is also keen to explore the opportunities available for selling Superbee-branded honey into America.

"We're registered with the American Government under their Anti-Terrorism Act, which means our factory is subject to audits by the American Government at any time,?Mr Christiansen said.

"Our next step is to ensure we have the necessary volume of product.
