Net users have mixed feelings about China's pole dancers, after the scantily-clad national group performed at a water park in Tianjin on Tuesday as the city saw its first snowfall of the season.
Â
The national pole dancing team, which was controversially formed last year, said that performing for audiences in the cold temperatures was not only helpful for their preparations to compete at this year's World Pole Dance Sport & Fitness Championships in London, but also valuable in promoting pole dancing to the public. One dancer said that performing in the snow made her more "strong-willed," saying that she would pursue pole dancing regardless of what people say.
Â
Park visitors, many of whom were surprised at how good the show was, said online after that they were impressed by the dancers.
Net user Hu Baoliang showed respect for the dancers, saying that they were brave to perform in the snowy weather, but worried about them freezing in the below-zero temperatures.
Â
Net user Jinrongxiaolaohu, meanwhile, pointed a critical eye at the show, accusing the national pole dancing team, which he said was not authorized by the General Administration of Sports of China, of launching a publicity stunt just to get attention.Â
