A man was fined 1,000 CNY (162 USD) for smoking on a high-speed train.
The man, surnamed Liu, reportedly smoked in the restroom of a C2245 train from Beijing to Tianjin, setting off the train's smoke alarm. The conductor then decelerated to ensure the train's safety, which delayed the train's arrival in Tianjin.
Liu was seized in the restroom and was transferred to police in Tianjin. According to regulations on railway safety, Liu was fined 1,000 CNY.
This is the heaviest fine since the beginning of this year's summer travel crush.Â
