As a major navigation project in North China's harbor city of Tianjin, Tianjin Port's "E Navigation" demonstration project is now in process, according to The Navigation Guarantee Center of North China's Sea (NGCN). The "E Navigation" pilot project will be launched in 2015.
Chai Jinzhu, spokesman of NGCN, said that "E Navigation" is a future development strategy brought out by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 2006.
Through building a standard basic system, the project aims to provide timely, complete, and comprehensive maritime safety and navigational aids, which will help to improve transportation efficiency, guarantee navigation safety, and enhance ocean environmental protection.
This year, NGCN is focusing on pushing forward the navigation projects related to Beidou navigation satellite. NGCN has completed major projects, such as system tests, channel monitoring, and system promotions.
