Beijing reported two asymptomatic COVID-19 cases from Wednesday to 4 pm Thursday, according to Pang Xinghuo, deputy head of the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, at a news conference on Thursday afternoon.
One of the cases, surnamed Fu, a 34-year-old male, is a permanent resident in Beijing's Shunyi district. At present, the Lianzhuhuayuan residential community in Shunyi district has been fully closed to outsiders. Fu received a nucleic acid test because he was going to take the entrance examination for graduate school. Testing was required by the Beijing health authority for all students who are going to take the examination.
The other case, a male, lives in Financial Street in Xicheng district and works with cold chain business in a supermarket. He came to Beijing on Dec 6 from Tianjin. He took the tests required by the city's regulation on businesses, including restaurants and supermarkets.
All the close contacts of the two cases are identified and under medical observation.
One of the close contacts came from Beijing to Tianjin on Dec 16th. He took the high-speed rail (G373 No. 02 Carriage 03D) to Tangshan at 8:42 on December 16th, and took the high-speed rail (G1206 No. 03 Carriage 07D) to Tianjin West Station at 14:53 on the same day.
Pang asked the citizens to take prevention and control measures seriously and not leave the city when it's not necessary.
