Thirteen people were killed and one remains missing after a bus fell into a river on Monday in Pingshan County, Shijiazhuang City, north China's Hebei Province, provincial authorities said on Monday night.
The bus, which belongs to Jingye Group, a steel company, fell into the river at about 7:00 a.m. on Monday, with 51 people on board. The vehicle has been salvaged.
The deceased were among 50 people who were pulled from the river water by 7:00 p.m., but died after emergency medical treatment failed.
The remaining 37 people are alive and seven of them are being observed at a hospital.
The driver has been held by local police and an investigation is ongoing.
China's Ministry of Public Security later said a working team has been dispatched to the site to guide the operation.
