According to local press conference on the fight against COVID-19 on Sunday, travelers entering and leaving Xi'an by car or bus are required to present a certificate of nucleic acid testing performed in the previous 48 hours.
Xi'an Xianyang International Airport limited travel on Sunday for passengers coming from medium or high risk areas within the city. People from other areas of the city can leave once they present the certificate of nucleic acid testing performed in the previous 48 hours.
Residents without a green code can be refused to ride buses and taxis and the city will conduct nucleic acid testing in all public places and transportation once the city-wide testing is finished, the local government said on Saturday.
On Saturday, the local government shut indoor recreation places, including bars, gyms, cinemas and Mahjong rooms, urging citizens not to leave the city if not necessary.
On Sunday, a residential area and a dormitory of Chang'an University in downtown Xi'an was designated high-risk. Another 13 areas in the downtown area of Xi'an were adjusted as medium-risk areas for COVID-19, according to the city's epidemic prevention and control headquarters.
All primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in Xi'an, suspended classes on Monday, according to the Xi'an epidemic prevention and control headquarters. Online classes began on Monday.
The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 57 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Tuesday.
Of the new local cases, 43 were reported in Shaanxi, eight in Zhejiang, and six in Guangdong, the commission said.
Also reported were 24 new imported cases in nine provincial-level regions, according to the commission.
