Toyota said operations at its joint venture complex in Tianjin resumed operations on Saturday after measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 prompted it to shut the plant, a Toyota spokesperson said.
The site, which Toyota runs with Chinese automaker FAW Group, was shut on Jan. 10. The plant was shut due to the impact on suppliers of mandatory COVID-19 testing of city residents.
Volkswagen' FAW-Volkswagen vehicle plant in Tianjin resumed production of Friday after shutting on Jan. 10 because of recent COVID-19 outbreaks.
"The FAW-Volkswagen vehicle plant had temporarily shut down operations due to missing parts from suppliers and pending COVID-19 test results of employees. Production was resumed on Friday, 21st January," the company said.
